Frequently asked questions:

  • Q: Who should get vaccinated?
    • A: The Department of Health states "vaccination against influenza (the flu) remains important this year. Vaccination experts recommend influenza vaccination for all people aged 6 months old and over".
  • Q: Why should I get vaccinated?
    • A: Vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect yourself. The benefits go beyond you too. Getting a flu shot also means you help to protect others, including those who are too sick or too young to be vaccinated, as well as vulnerable groups.
  • Q: How much does it cost?
    • A: Flu vaccinations at Next Practice cost $20 out of pocket per person unless you are eligible for one of the free government vaccines**. The $20 charge covers the cost of the vaccine and the consultation is bulk billed. Non Medicare card holders will incur a consultation fee.
  • Q: Who's eligible for a free vaccine**?
    • A: Under the Government's National Immunisation Program, there are some people that are eligible for a free flu vaccine because they are most at risk. This includes:
      • Children aged six months to five years
      • Pregnant women
      • People aged 65 years and over
      • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
      • People aged six months and over with medical conditions that mean they have a higher risk of flu complications
