Dr Laken McGarvey is a friendly, compassionate and understanding doctor who highly values a holistic and collaborative approach to help patients achieve their goals. She completed a Bachelor of Science before obtaining her medical degree from James Cook University in 2014. She is a Fellow of the General Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Prior to General Practice, Laken worked extensively in Aboriginal Health Services collaboratively managing complex chronic diseases as well as paediatric health, women’s health and mental health. She also has also worked within the hospital system for several years where she gained experience in emergency medicine, psychiatry and general medicine.
Her special interests include women’s health, mental health, paediatric health, sexual health, chronic disease management.
In her spare time Laken enjoys activities such as dancing, running, travelling, meditation and mindfulness, reading, as well as spending quality time with her friends, family and her poodle, Harry.
