πŸ“£ Update on the New Aged Care Act – What It Means for You πŸ“£

The Australian Government has announced a delay to the new Aged Care Act, now expected to begin on 1 July 2025. This change is about taking more time to listen and make sure the new laws truly reflect what older people, carers, and families need.

πŸ” What does this mean for you?
If you or a loved one are receiving support at home β€” through the Commonwealth Home Support Program, a Home Care Package, or aged care assessments β€” there is no immediate change to your services. Your care will continue under the current system, and your rights and access to support remain in place - you should discuss this with your care provider.

🏠 The new Act is designed to strengthen your rights, improve access to high-quality care, and provide better protection β€” especially for people receiving care in their own homes. While we wait for these improvements, we’ll continue to help you navigate the current system and make sure your needs are met.

πŸ’¬ For patients at Next Practice Deakin, if you have any questions or concerns about your aged care support, please don’t hesitate to talk to your GP or our social worker.
