""I'm excited to join the first Next Practice clinic in Canberra. My values are entirely aligned with the Next Practice values and approaches; comprehensive care supported by technology with a flexible and simple approach.""
Prema completed her medical degree in Sri Lanka in 1993. She emigrated to Australia with her husband in 1995 and they have since had two beautiful daughters. Prema gained her certificate from the Australian Medical Council exam in 1998. Before completing her general practice training, Prema undertook accident and emergency work in both Tasmania and the ACT. She has been working as a GP in Canberra since 2003.
Prema has many clinical interests, including women’s health and minor surgical procedures. She is especially committed to providing services for aging patients. Prema will only be offering outreach services to Residential Aged Care Facilities through Next Practice Deakin. She has a caring and compassionate nature which is particularly invaluable in this area of her work.
Outside of work, Prema enjoys nature walks, travelling and family-orientated activities. She is community spirited and has been involved with initiating and delivering medical workshops to local communities as well as medical volunteering overseas.
