Joanne is an Endorsed Nurse Practitioner, having completed a Master of Nursing (MN NPrac), alongside a Graduate Diploma of Gerontological Nursing (GradDip GerontNsg) and a Bachelor of Health Science (Post Registration Nursing (BHlthSci(PostReg)). Joanne has completed several other certifications, obtaining her Promoting Continence Certificate, Certificate in Spinal Cord Injuries, and Prostate Cancer Nursing Certificate. Her specific clinical interests are continence promotion, diabetes, and aged care. Joanne also currently serves as the President of the National Branch of The Continence Nurse’s Society of Australia Inc (CoNSA) and is a member of the International Continence Society (ICS) Nursing Committee.
Joanne believes in three core areas of her professional work. Firstly, continuity of care; not just seeing a person once but contributing to the continuum of their care as life stages change. Next, collaboration; working with a person and their health care team to meet individual health care goals. Finally, education; the opportunity to provide nursing education to staff working within the aged care sector to improve person-centred care outcomes.
In her personal time, Joanne enjoys pursuits such as embroidery, as well as travelling and spending time with family.
