Flu Vaccine Availability:
Starting from May 1st and continuing through July 31st, Next Practice Erina will be offering flu vaccination appointments every Wednesday from 3-4 pm. These appointments are designed to fit seamlessly into your schedule, providing you with the opportunity to safeguard your health conveniently.
Who should get vaccinated?
The Department of Health states "vaccination against influenza (the flu) remains important this year. Vaccination experts recommend influenza vaccination for all people aged 6 months old and over".
Why should I get vaccinated?
Flu vaccination remains one of the most effective preventive measures available. Getting a flu shot also means you help to protect others, including those who are too sick or too young to be vaccinated, as well as vulnerable groups.
How much does it cost?
Flu vaccinations at Next Practice Erina cost $25 out of pocket per person unless you are eligible for one of the free government vaccines**. The $25 charge covers the cost of the vaccine and the consultation is bulk billed for Medicare holders.
Who's eligible for a free vaccine**?
Under the Government's National Immunisation Program, there are some people that are eligible for a free flu vaccine because they are most at risk. This includes:
- Children aged six months to five years
- Pregnant women
- People aged 65 years and over
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
- People aged six months and over with medical conditions that mean they have a higher risk of flu complications.
