Dr Parthipan Kamaleswaran
General Practitioner
- Qualifications: MBBS, B.Sc Hons Genetics, FRACGP
- Special interests: Preventative Medicine and Diabetes Management
After his medical training at the University of Sydney, Dr. Par worked as a hospital doctor in public and private systems, mainly in Queensland and New South Wales, before entering general practice in Queensland. He trained rurally before obtaining his specialist designation as a GP fellow.
Dr Par's medical approach involves optimising health span and longevity for his patients. He tends to create a list of evolving issues and continual improvement goals to help patients create the best versions of themselves for the long game. He focuses on the pillars of health - nutrition, exercise, sleep and emotional health.
He is passionate about metabolic disease and has had much success improving/reversing type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, dyslipidaemia (cholesterol issues) and reducing cardiovascular risks. He also has an interest in helping women through menopause and assisting in the management of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
Body recomposition is a strategy he focuses on to improve strength and reduce frailty since he believes this is not emphasised enough throughout the lifespan. Most patients who want to lose weight specifically refer to fat loss, so Dr. Par helps them with this while encouraging muscle growth and maintenance.
Having a genetics background prior to medicine, Dr. Par incorporates and engages patients with the scientific explanations behind why he recommends certain choices. He values medical education deeply and will ensure patients understand the benefits of the healthier options they choose.
Outside medicine, Dr. Par enjoys fantasy literature, exercise, Magic The Gathering, and bothering his wife.
Please note that Dr. Par prefers not to prescribe opiates, benzodiazepines or hypnotic drugs.
