Alzheimer's, which is two thirds of all dementia, is not an inevitable consequence of ageing, nor is it all 'in your genes'. It is a chronic disease and largely a preventable one. We know quite a lot about how you can, at least, halve your risk and the number of people developing dementia. There is currently no cure for dementia, despite the advances of medicines. Ultimately, prevention and taking action NOW is better than waiting for a cure.
