If you’re feeling a little out of sorts this week, you’re not alone! Daylight saving ended last weekend (Sunday 6 April), and even gaining an extra hour can throw off your sleep cycle.

What is Daylight Saving?
Daylight saving time is when we move our clocks forward in spring and back in autumn. In Victoria, it ended at 3am AEDT on Sunday 6 April 2025, with clocks shifting back one hour—giving us more daylight in the mornings and darker evenings.

How Does It Affect Sleep?
Even though we gain an hour, that sudden shift can mess with your body clock. You might feel a little groggy, wake up earlier than usual, or have trouble falling asleep—especially if your routine is already a bit sensitive.

Tips to Reset Your Sleep Routine:
✔️ Wind back bedtime gradually – Go to bed and wake up a little earlier to realign with the new schedule.
✔️ Get morning light exposure – Step outside early—natural light helps reset your circadian rhythm.
✔️ Stay consistent – Keep your sleep and wake times steady, even on weekends.
✔️ Reduce screen time before bed – Blue light from devices can delay melatonin production.
✔️ Create a restful sleep space – Cool, dark, and quiet is best.
