Do you know the signs?
Each year in Australia, nearly 1,800 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In many cases, it is diagnosed at an advanced stage, making it more difficult to treat.
Ovarian cancer symptoms are often vague and mistaken for less serious conditions, leading to delayed diagnoses. Knowing the signs and symptoms can help increase the chances of early detection.
This month, we encourage you to help us raise awareness about this disease. Share these 5 important facts about ovarian cancer:
1️⃣ Ovarian cancer is Australia’s most lethal female cancer, with a 5-year survival rate of just 49%.
2️⃣ 70% of those diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer will experience a recurrence within 3 years.
3️⃣ Symptoms are often subtle and difficult to detect, making early diagnosis challenging.
4️⃣ There is no reliable early detection test – Cervical Screening Tests (Pap smears) do NOT detect ovarian cancer.
5️⃣ Your family history matters – A strong family history of ovarian, breast, or other cancers can increase your risk.
We can’t fight this disease alone – let’s spread the word. Re-share this post and get talking!
