It's Heart Week! 🫀
Heart Week is a national campaign run by the Heart Foundation to shine a spotlight on the importance of heart health and the steps we can all take to reduce our risk of heart disease.

Every four minutes, an Australian experiences a heart attack or stroke.

Heart disease remains our nation’s leading cause of death—but here’s the good news: up to 80% of cardiovascular disease is preventable through early detection and healthy lifestyle changes.

This Heart Week, we’re encouraging our community to take action.

A simple Heart Health Check with your GP is a quick and important way to understand your risk and take proactive steps to protect your heart.

✔️ What we check:
• Blood pressure
• Cholesterol
• Blood sugar
• Lifestyle factors (like diet, exercise, and smoking)

From there, we calculate your risk of heart disease and create a tailored plan to keep your heart strong.

💡 Heart health facts:
🔹 Most heart disease develops silently—with no symptoms.
🔹 1 in 6 Aussies aged 45+ is at high risk of a heart attack or stroke in the next 5 years.
🔹 Small changes—like walking 30 minutes a day—can make a big difference.
🔹 Exercise, healthy eating, and quitting smoking all reduce your risk.

Don’t wait for symptoms. Be proactive.
