Newborn and Paediatric Appointments
Often families find standard or even long appointments are not enough time to thoroughly address particular concerns for their little ones. At Next Practice Prahran, Dr Lauren Healy offers these longer appointments as way to address specific concerns parents may have for themselves or their children, without feeling rushed.
Dr Lauren Healy holds special interests in women's and children's health. Dr Healy provides care for Children from newborn to teens.
In an initial Comprehensive Newborn and Paediatric Appointment, Dr Healy will establish connection and trust with both parents and children, take a comprehensive history and exam, discuss management strategies, refer on as appropriate and provide evidence based resources.
For newborns/infants the comprehensive evaluation can look at things such as:
- Physical Examination
- Feeding and Nutrition
- Sleep Patterns
- Behavior and Development
- Assess progress by evaluating the changes, improvements, or developments that have occurred since the initial consultation.
- Discussing Results of Investigations: If any medical tests, screenings, or investigations were initiated based on previous concerns, it's crucial to discuss the results with the mother.
- Develop an ongoing management plan and provide options for future follow up
- Maternal/parental wellbeing and mental health
- Breastfeeding Support
- Parenting and Bonding
- Safety and Care
For older children (up to teens) issues to be addressed may include things such as:
- Eczema management
- Asthma management
- Allergies
- Constipation
- Concerns around growth and development
- Concerns around eating and food
At a review appointment Dr Lauren will look at things such as:
