🧡 We're bringing the Life! program to our clinic – and it's free!

We were thrilled to welcome Wendy from Diabetes Victoria to our clinic this week to discuss the Life! program—a free, government-funded initiative designed to help Victorians reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

The Life! program is a healthy lifestyle program that helps you improve your eating habits, increase your physical activity, and manage stress. Run by expert health professionals, the program is delivered as a group course or telephone health coaching service and shows eligible Victorians how to reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

Program Highlights:

  • 💸 Cost: Free for eligible participants—no Medicare card required.
  • 🧠 Eligibility: Victorians aged 18 and over who are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, or stroke. We'll help you complete a short questionnaire to determine your eligibility.

You may be eligible if you're 18+ and have been diagnosed with one or more of the following:

  • Heart disease or stroke (e.g. heart attack, arrhythmia, angina, heart failure)
  • Diabetes during pregnancy (gestational diabetes)
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • High blood glucose levels
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)

🚫 Please note: The Life! program is not available for people already living with diabetes.

  • 🗓 Structure: Seven sessions over 12 months, available in-person, online, or via telephone health coaching.
  • 🥦Content: Focuses on healthy eating, physical activity, stress management, and achieving personal health goals.

The program is also offered to some acceptable non-Victorian postcodes, so you are welcome to share this with friends and family who you think may benefit!
