Together we can beat the flu

Flu vaccinations are now available at Next Practice Sydney.

With the current COVID-19 pandemic and flu season fast approaching, the healthcare system will feel a huge strain. During this time it’s very important the public take preventative health measures to minimise the pressure on the health system and improve its ability to test for COVID-19 and protect the vulnerable populations.

Who should get vaccinated?

The Government recommends everyone over the age of 6 months to get immunised against seasonal flu.

Why should I get vaccinated?

Vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect yourself. The benefits go beyond you too. Getting a flu shot also means you help to protect others, including those who are too sick or too young to be vaccinated, as well as vulnerable groups.

*How much does it cost?

Flu vaccinations at Next Practice Sydney cost $20 out of pocket per person unless you are eligible for one of the bulk-billed government funded vaccines**. The $20 charge includes the cost of the consultation and the vaccine. This is available to Medicare Holders only otherwise you will be privately billed for the consultation.

**Who's eligible for a free vaccine?

Under the Government's National Immunisation Program, there are some people that are eligible for a free flu vaccine because they are most at risk. This includes:

  • Children aged six months to five years
  • Pregnant women
  • People aged 65 years and over
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
  • People aged six months and over with medical conditions that mean they have a higher risk of flu complications
