Lauren is a General Practitioner and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician. Lifestyle Medicine is an area of medicine that has a focus on self-care and self-management using evidence-based behavioural interventions to prevent, treat and manage chronic disease. She became a board-certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician in 2020 and is currently completing her Fellowship through the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine and a Masters of Lifestyle Medicine through Southern Cross University.
Lauren graduated from James Cook University in 2012 and completed her General Practice training (FRACGP) in 2018 and has spent the last 6 years working in Newcastle, NSW.
Lauren also holds a special interest in prenatal care, newborn care and feeding, infant and childhood immunisations, sleep issues, parental mental health and everyday childhood health. She is currently completing a Diploma in Childhood Health and is training to become an NDC accredited possums provider (Neuroprotective Developmental Care).
She is also a Psychological Strategies Provider, and is able to provide mental health care treatments such as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), and IBT (interpersonal behavioural therapy).
In addition, Lauren is in the process of completing her yoga teacher training that has a focus on Lifestyle Medicine and hopes to be able to incorporate her theoretical learning and practice into her GP job. She also enjoys getting to know families, paediatric medicine, women’s health and antenatal care.
When Lauren is not at work, she enjoys taking her loveable Labradoodle Leroy Brown on long walks, yoga, reading, meditation, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
