Dr Marija Lugonja

Dr Marija Lugonja (ABN: 91 788 794 742) graduated from the University of London in 2003. She completed her GP training in the UK in 2011 attaining Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) and has completed extra training in women’s health, gaining the extra qualification of Diploma of the Family of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare of The Royal College Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Marija worked as a GP in London, before moving to Australia with her family in 2013.

Marija really enjoys the variety of General Practice and the continuity of care that the specialty allows. She has a particular interest in women’s health, family planning, preventative medicine, mental health and travel health. Marija has completed extra training in women’s health, gaining the extra qualification of Diploma of the Family of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare of The Royal College Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is also a registered Antenatal Shared Care Provider (ANSC), allowing her to provide shared care throughout pregnancy between local hospital antenatal care services and midwives

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children, being outdoors, travelling and walking her German Shepherd.

Please note: Procedures will incur a treatment room and consumable fee that is charged in addition to the GP consultation. Treatment room and consumable fees are not eligible for a Medicare rebate.

10% less on GAP fee for Pension and Concession Card Holders and patients under the age of 18 years old. Bulk billing available for children under 2 years of age. DVA Gold holders will be charged directly to DVA only.

You will be eligible for a Medicare Rebate for telehealth appointments if you have visited the clinic for a face-to-face consultation previously. If not, you can still book a telehealth consultation, however you will not be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate, until we have seen you for a face-to-face consultation.

WorkCover:

You will need to pay for your GP visit on the day until your case is accepted or denied by WorkCover. Reimbursement will be provided by WorkCover QLD.

My Billing Policy:

My fees cover the cost of providing you with a high-quality healthcare service, that includes my services alongside practice nurses and reception staff, within a purpose-built, state-of-the-art medical facility.

Please note that I require full payment at the time of your consultation. I accept contactless and card payments to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. For your convenience your claim can be processed through Medicare online and your rebate will be deposited into your nominated bank account within 24/48 hours, provided that you have registered your bank details with Medicare.

Telehealth Appointments:

For all of my telehealth appointments, a $50 deposit is needed in order to secure the appointment, at least 24 hours in advance. This amount will be deducted from the final fee.

For your convenience your claim can be processed through Medicare online and your rebate will be deposited into your nominated bank account within 24/48 hours, provided that you have registered your bank details with Medicare. If no deposit is received for your Telehealth consult, your appointment may be canceled.

New Patients:

For all new patients, a $50 deposit is needed to secure the appointment, at least 24 hours in advance. This amount will be deducted from the final fee.

Cancellation Policy:

• Standard Appointments: If you need to cancel or reschedule your standard appointment, I require at least 2 hours' notice. If you fail to attend your standard appointment without warning; after the second occurrence a did not attend (DNA) fee of $50 will apply. Please note that no Medicare rebate applies to this charge.

• Care Plan and Extended Appointments: If you need to cancel or reschedule a care plan or extended appointment, I require at least 24 hours' notice. If no cancellation is made there will be a full charge without warning. No Medicare rebate applies to this charge.

• Exceptional Circumstances: In the event of exceptional circumstances, such as sudden illness or emergency, please contact the clinic as soon as possible to let me know. I will endeavor to work with you to reschedule your appointment at the earliest convenience.

Test Results: If your results are normal and do not show anything that is concerning, you will not normally be contacted. You can obtain a copy of your results as follows:

At Next Practice Newstead, all normal results, not requiring a follow up appointment can be requested to be released via the Next Practice App.

A copy of your test results are never released without the result first being reviewed by your Doctor.

My Health Record App

Your pathology results should automatically be available to you 7 days after your tests have been finalised, via My Health Record and the MyHealth app.

Test results that require a follow up consultation:

• If your doctor requires a follow up appointment to discuss your results, our team will contact you to arrange this appointment. A fee will apply to this consultation.
