Did you know that all of our Patient Advocates are currently studying in the health field? Every day, they bring fresh knowledge, energy, and heart to our team.

One of our amazing Patient Advocates, Manon, is currently studying Sport Science — and this semester, he’s diving into a fascinating unit exploring the social dimensions of sport and exercise.

It’s not just about fitness or competition — it’s about how sport connects to identity, community, equality, and public health.
Sport and physical activity play a powerful role in shaping healthier, stronger societies.

Some powerful facts:
🏥 Regular participation in sport and exercise can reduce the risk of major diseases like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers by 30–50%.
🧠 Physical activity boosts mental health, improving mood, reducing anxiety, and helping protect against depression.
💪 Being active can lower your risk of dementia by up to 30%.
👶 It also supports healthy development in children and adolescents, strengthening bones, improving academic performance, and building social skills.

Yet, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, nearly half of Australian adults aren’t getting enough physical activity for good health.
That’s why building a culture of movement — through community sport, active transport, and inclusive opportunities — is so important!

Sport has the power to bring people together, break down barriers, and promote wellbeing.

We’re so proud to have team members like Manon who are passionate about the bigger picture of health!
